Robot Vacuum Not Charging: Checks Before Replacement

Use the exact model's instructions and external checks before buying a battery or replacement robot.

Record the symptom

Distinguish failure to find the dock from reaching it without showing charging. Note the error, indicator pattern and battery reading. Record whether the problem started after moving the station or cleaning the robot. Specific observations give support a clearer starting point than an assumption that the battery has failed.

Check the external connection

Follow the manual to confirm dock power and the robot's charging position. Inspect accessible contacts and use only the permitted cleaning method. Do not improvise solvents, bridge contacts or dismantle the dock. If a connector or cable is damaged, stop using it and obtain the manufacturer's replacement procedure.

Keep the instructions model-specific

Advice for a floor washer, mower or older robot may not apply. Use the exact support page and manual. Avoid repeated resets before recording settings and checking whether maps will be erased. External troubleshooting should narrow the fault rather than remove useful evidence or become an unsupported battery repair.

Escalate with useful information

Prepare the model, serial number, purchase record, error text and completed checks. Ask whether warranty or repair service applies before buying parts. Compare a repair quote with the value of the existing system. A charging failure alone does not establish that replacing the entire robot and dock is the sensible choice.

  • Save the exact error message.
  • Record what changed before the fault.
  • Use manufacturer support for unresolved charging problems.

Prepare a useful support report

A concise report might read: the robot reaches the station, the app still shows the same battery level, and the problem began after the dock was moved. Add the displayed error verbatim and say which external checks the manual allowed you to complete. Distinguish an observation from your diagnosis; write that the indicator is absent rather than declaring the power supply dead. A short video of the docking behavior can help if manufacturer support requests one, provided it does not reveal private household information.

Decide on repair only after identifying compatibility

If support recommends a part, obtain its exact identifier and the approved installation route before ordering. A similar connector or a listing that names several robot families is not enough evidence of compatibility. Ask whether the proposed repair affects the existing warranty and whether the fault could involve the dock as well as the robot. Compare the complete repair cost, including service or shipping where applicable, with a replacement purchase. Avoid buying a new machine merely because an unresolved charging symptom resembles a battery problem.
